Fannie Mae Will Lease To Homeowners Facing Foreclosure

Fannie Mae, the government agency who insures many home loans, is putting into place a Deed for Lease™ Program. Qualified homeowners who are facing foreclosure will be able to stay in their homes by signing a lease and voluntarily transferring the property deed back to the bank (lender). This program helps keep sellers in their homes and does not immediately displace them, stabilizes the neighborhood, and helps keep the property from being vandalized.
